UCLA DEVELOPMENT/UNIVERSITY FUNDRAISING
Project: Development Rotation
Staying at the forefront of discovery, and providing student and faculty financial support requires significant resources. That’s where UCLA Development comes in. Our Development professionals are devoted to raising funds to advance the university’s mission. We create enduring relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations to generate support for UCLA’s students, faculty, research and programs.
Two interns will be selected as part of the Development Rotation project. As an intern, you will learn about all aspects of a rewarding career in fundraising by learning how we: research and identify potential UCLA supporters, cultivate and solicit donors, and share with donors the impact of their support. You will also learn how fundraisers collaborate with other professionals such as researchers, faculty, physicians, event planners, and communications officers to help donors achieve their philanthropic goals. Interns may also assist with events and attend donor meetings when appropriate.
These are hybrid internship opportunities.
UCLA ALUMNI AFFAIRS - DIVERSITY PROGRAMS
Project: Student-to-Alumni Pipelining

One intern will have the opportunity to work with both current students and alumni volunteer leaders from diverse backgrounds to gain an in-depth view of diversity work and its nuances in the field of Alumni Affairs. Assigned tasks seek to explore potential partnerships between students and alumni that will allow for engagement and establish the groundwork for future projects. As an intern, you will gain experience in a multitude of areas such as: qualitative research, social media planning, and outreach and analysis.

UCLA GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS - COMMUNITY AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
Project: Advocacy and Civic Engagement
UCLA Government and Community Relations (GCR) communicates the impact of UCLA’s world-class education, renowned health system, ground breaking research, and over 1,000 community partnership collaborations to government officials and influencers. We form relationships with policymakers and mobilize support for legislation and budget priorities that support UCLA’s tripartite mission of education, research, and service. Through GCR’s Community and Local Government Relations team, we seek to increase UCLA’s visibility across the LA region, highlighting the university’s commitment to tackling some of society’s greatest challenges and leadership role in civic engagement.
One intern will have the opportunity to assist the Community and Local Government Relations team with two primary projects:
Sepulveda Transit Corridor Advocacy: To help promote fair and equitable access to campus for as many people as possible, UCLA is advocating for a station on the UCLA campus as part of Metro’s Sepulveda Transit Corridor (link: https://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/ucla-advocates-for-campus-station-sepulveda-rail-line). As an intern, you will help with strategic messaging and advocacy efforts, including working with a grassroots coalition that UCLA helped create called the Sepulveda Transit Corridor for All (STC4All).
Local Candidate Forums: Civic and community engagement are hallmarks of the University. To this end, GCR is organizing several forums and debates to raise awareness of candidates running in several key local elections this year (e.g., Mayor of LA, LA City Council District 5, and LA County Supervisor for District 3). These candidate forums will be organized in collaboration with other community groups, campus partners, business organizations and media sponsors.
